Myrna D. Thompson, 82, of Moline, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at home.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 6, at Grace Church, formerly Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 2312 18th Ave Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island Memorials can be made in care of P.E.O. Chapter LC.

Myrna was born in Moline, Illinois on March 13, 1940, a daughter of Everett and Gladys (Mapel) Johnston. She married the love of her life, Robert L. Thompson on December 23, 1960. Myrna worked as a nurse for several different hospitals over the years, including Trinity Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital.

She was a long-time member of South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, where she served as a parish nurse for many years. She also volunteered for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Myrna was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, who loved to paint and help the next generation of nurses through the P.E.O.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Robert Thompson; children, Julie (Rob) Turnis and Steve (Jessica) Thompson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sarah (Elliott) Fridono and their children, Shealyn, Natalie, and Carson, Hailee Thompson and her children, Jontez, Kaleeah, and Kamilah, Kelsey Turnis, Bryce, Madeline, and Gabriel Thompson; and brother, Thomas Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Thompson; parents, Everett and Gladys Johnston; and sisters, Corrinne and Gloria Beverlin.
