Nancy K. Brown Farrar, 90, a lifetime resident of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Private graveside services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ben and Nancy Farrar Scholarship at Rock Island/Milan Schools Scholarship Foundation.

Nancy was born December 6, 1935 in Davenport, the only child of Harry and Thelma (Clemenn) Young.

Nancy graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1953. She earned her BA from Western Illinois University in 1957, and later earned her Master’s degree from Western. She taught kindergarten in various schools in the Rock Island/Milan school system for over 30 years.

Nancy was a member of the Rock Island/Milan Booster Club, charter member of “In His Name” Kings Daughters group, life member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

Nancy is survived by many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Thelma Young, daughter, M. Lynne Brown, infant son, Christopher Brown and husband, Ben Farrar, Jr.
