Nancy Lee Johnson, 83, of Milan, died Monday, May 1, 2023 at home surrounded by family.  A funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, May 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 1901 29th Street, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan.  Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of First Baptist Church, Moline, The American Kidney Association or to the American Diabetes Association.

Nancy Lee (Lake) Johnson was born 21 August 1939 in Marceline, Missouri, the daughter of Ola Finis and Anna Margaret (Apgar) Lake. She died at home surrounded by her family on 1 May 2023. She moved with her mother and father and six siblings to Moline, Illinois when she was in 4th grade. She graduated from Moline High School in 1958.

She began working at Desaulniers Printing Company in Moline that same year where she met Joseph Henry (Joe) Johnson, her future husband. They were married on 30 May 1964, and their first daughter Theresa Marie Ewers was born the following February. They soon added three additional children: Melissa Anne (Michael) Neill and Jennifer Lynn (Dan Murphy) Johnson, and Joseph Henry Johnson Jr.

She spent most of her married life living in Milan, Illinois. Nancy is also survived by eight grandchildren: Brian Ewers, Lynn (Dave) Deal, Paige Noelle Ewers (fiancé, Christian Russell); Sarah Anne (Brian) Nelson; Katie (James Sullivan) Neill; Kaitlyn LeeAnn (AJ) Kirgan; Chelsea Eugenia Rhodes (Jesse Dau); and Brandon Wayne Whittington. Nancy is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Adaline Ewers, Dawson Deal, Salem Russell, Neill and Ruth Nelson, Asher Neill-Sullivan, Lilly Anna and Remington Kirgan.

She was preceded in death by her son Joseph H. Johnson Jr., her parents Ola and Anna Lake, siblings and spouses Charles Lake, James "Jim" (Norma) Lake, Mary Ann (Jack) Schmidt, Lillian Grace (Elmer) Dyer, Margaret (James) Hartley, brothers-in-law Harry Hodgerson and Kenneth Johnson, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Wilbur Walter Johnson and Grace Alice (Mortier) Johnson.

Those left to mourn her loss include her loving husband Joe Johnson, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, a sister Laveta Hodgerson, and sister-in-law Kathleen (Dan) Decap. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews also survive.
