Nancy Leithner, 76, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday June 16, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday June 20, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Nancy was born on July 17, 1947 in Rock Island, the daughter of Eddie and Myrtle (Stavig) Tiefenbach. She was a graduate of Rock Island High School Class of 1965. After graduation, Nancy and some friends spent a year in Oahu, Hawaii. She married John Leithner on January 29, 1972 in Rock Island. Mrs. Leithner had been employed as a secretary with realtor Ken Bunte, until her retirement in 2017. Previously Nancy had worked for 20 years as an aide with the Rock Island School District in Denkmann School. Nancy loved being with her family and friends, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, fishing with John, lunch with the girls and dinners with the phone company group. She also enjoyed bowling when she was younger, camping, sitting outside visiting with neighbors, vacations in Wisconsin, an occasional margarita, visits to the casino and trips to Florida with high school friends. Nancy took great care of all of her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Survivors include her daughters, Laura (Scott) Estes, Linnsey Leithner (Tommy Belowske); grandchildren, Faith (Justin) Perren, Bryant Estes (Colleen Klostermann); sister in law, Jacklyn Leithner and niece, Lisa Dease. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; siblings, Carol, Donald, Robert and Allen. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com.
