Obituary

Naoma P. Taber, 95, a resident of Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island, formally of Bettendorf and Sun City West, Ariz., died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date in the columbarium of Church of The Advent, Sun City West. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Naoma Dodson was born July 17, 1920 in Kirksville, Mo., the daughter of Thomas and Ruby Holderby Dodson. She married Rudolph W. Taber on May 4, 1975 in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Naoma served as the first woman vice president of First Federal Savings and Loan, Davenport. She retired in 1980.

She was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Davenport and Church of The Advent, Sun City West, where she had been active at both and sang in the church choirs. Naoma enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her stepsons, Rudolph C. Taber, Marion, Iowa, Ronald C. (Nancy) Taber, Rock Island, Thomas D. (Cindy) Taber, Ballston Lake, N.Y., Theodore D. (Mercy) Taber, Washington, Ill., and Eric S. Taber, Phoenix, Az.; daughter-in-law, Jacki Taber, Rock Island; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lowell J. Dodson, St. Joseph, Mo. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Ruby Jo Gustofson and Monica Dvorak; stepson, Jeffrey J. Taber; granddaughter, Patience Taber; and two brothers.

Naoma's family extends their appreciation to Silver Cross Nursing Center and staff for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Naoma during her stay.
