Nettie J. Greenman, 87, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Avenue, Rock Island, and where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Nettie was born July 6, 1928 in Austin, Minn., a daughter of James, Sr. and Maude Sweazey Wentzel. She married Ray E. Greenman, on June 14, 1948, in Minneaopolis, MN. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1986.
Nettie was employed at the Cooperative Extension Office in Moline for many years. In later years, she worked at Rythmn City Casino, Davenport. She also sold Friendly Home Toys.
Nettie enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, going to the boat, and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Larry (Criss) Greenman, Roanoke, VA, Leon Greenman, Rock Island, Walter (Jean) Greenman, Rock Island, Bonnie (Tom) Westlund, Walnut, IL, Cherie Greenman, Rock Island, Janine (Steve) Carpenter, Dekalb, IL, and Raymond (Nancy) Greenman, Lebanon, MO; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Greenman, Rock Island; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Guy Wentzel, Duluth, MN; James Wentzel, Jr., Athens, GA, and Dixie Wytaske, Lansing, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Greenman; son, Lonnie Greenman; and siblings, Robert Wentzel, Viva McGonigle, Jesse McGonigle, Dave "Bud" Wentzel, Paul Wentzel, and Dorothy Theuer.
