Norma J. Minteer, 86, of Milan, passed away Saturday March 23, 2024 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the local Parkinson's Foundation or to her family.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be at a later date.
Norma was born on July 15, 1937 in Rock Island, the daughter of Clair and Helen (Caffrey) Janecke. She graduated from Sherrard High School and married Ronald Minteer on June 2, 1956 in Davenport.
Norma had been employed at Bituminous Insurance for 24 years, retiring in 2000.
Norma's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She adored her grandkids and loved watching them take part in their school and sports activities. In her retirement she became an avid golfer (even managing to achieve a hole in one), She loved traveling and camping in their RV and wintering in Florida. She found boundless joy walking the beautiful sandy beaches of Sanibel Island hunting for rare seashells and watching for dolphins and other wildlife for over 45 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing word games and solving puzzles.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Ronald, Children; Sharee (Mark) Sloan, Mark (Carolyn) Minteer, Jill Rice, Jodi (Jim) Huhn, Brenda (John) Baumunk; Grandchildren: Lindsay, Ronnie, Emilie, Erik, Megan, Allie, Haley, Jeremy, Johnny and Hanna; 9 Great Grandchildren, Brothers: Jim (Barb) Janecke, Danny Janecke; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Phyllis Hudson and 1 great grandchild.
