Oaty D.  George, 89, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. A memorial visitation will be 2 pm to 4 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Inurnment will be in Port Cemetery, Sentinel, Oklahoma at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Oaty was born on April 25, 1934, in Elk City, Oklahoma, a son of Adrian and N. Fern (Elder) George. Mr. George worked for the Rock Island Lines Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1996. Oaty was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. In his earlier years he was a boxer. Later in life he was a home builder.

Survivors include his children, Gary (Deb) George, East Moline, Denette Ehrlich, Stinnett, Texas, Bobby George, Green Forest, Arkansas, Tammy George, Oklahoma, and H. Dean George, East Moline; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, C. Doyle George, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Oaty was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Della Hall, Doyan George, DeLoys George; a son in law, John Ehrlich; and his significant other, Delores Hoffman.
