Obituary

Ollie E. Prouty, 88, of Rock Island, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 2 to 5 Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. by Trio Lodge 57 A.F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any veteran's organization or to Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley.

Ollie was born Jan. 23, 1926 in Sikeston, Mo., the son of Rose Prouty. He married Patricia A. Orin on May 27, 1961 in Moline.

He worked in sales for various companies in the Quad Cities and at the time of his retirement was working for Hyman Freightways of Minneapolis.

Ollie was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of Trio Lodge 57 A.F. & A.M. and had belonged to the Pinnacle Country Club. Ollie was an avid golfer, was fanatic about the appearance of his yard and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; sons, Jack (Val), Steve (Eunyce) and Randy (Debora) Prouty; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rachel Lambert. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Juanita Wilson.
