Pastor Robert J.D. Wilson Sr., 69, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Hope Center, Rochestor.

Robert was born November 1, 1946 in Denison, TX, the son of Charles and Rosie (Mitchell) Wilson Sr. He married Cheryl Ann Walker on March 27, 1993 in Moline. Robert served our country in the U.S. Army and retired as a Sergeant. He also served and helped his community as a pastor of the Risen Christ Ministries. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, working on antique cars, coaching little league baseball, and enjoying fried chicken with his family. He will be remembered by his unique ability to make people laugh, socializing with everyone and anyone, and being dressed up in his cowboy attire.

Robert is survived by wife Cheryl Ann Wilson, children Robert J.D. Wilson, Jr, Robin Wilson-Clipson (husband Casey Clipson), Chernetta Whiteside-Byl (husband James Byl), grandchildren CherylAnn Arielle Byl, Corie Wilson, Javin and Javon Whiteside, Jr, Carlie and Caleb Clipson, Jennessa and Jaxon Byl. Also leaving behind brother Woody Herman Wilson (wife Linda), sister Rosie Elaine Luper (husband James Luper), brother Charles Herman Wilson Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by father Charles Wilson, mother Rosie Wilson, sisters Charleen Wilson-Stevenson and Theresa Wilson-Melvin.
