IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia "Pat"
(Evans) Thornhill
January 1, 1936 – November 11, 2022
Patricia "Pat" Thornhill, age 86, died in her home on Friday, November 11, 2022. In accordance with her wishes cremation rites are to take place. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on November 26, 2022, from 12 noon to 4pm at the Rock Island Moose Lodge #190 at 4410 – 9th Street, Rock Island, Illinois. Burial services will be held on a later date where Pat and her dearly departed Jack Russell Terrier, Pepper, will join her deceased husband, John Thornhill at their resting site in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
Pat was born on January 1,1936 to Floyd "Bud" and Mary Jane Evans in Rock Island, Illinois. Pat attended Rock Island schools. In March of 1954, Pat and Rollie Henry of Hillsboro, Illinois married. Through the years they lived in Rock Island, Coyne Center and rural Coal Valley. Together they had four children and built two homes. Life revolved around work and family life. Unfortunately, this partnership dissolved after twenty years of marriage. Pat's second marriage was to John Thornhill, Rock Island. She became the stepmother to John's two children. Pat's work life consisted of jobs at Eagles Warehouse, Milan, Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley, and Carver Lumber, Milan. Upon retirement, Pat and John fulfilled their wish to purchase and move to a farm in Salem Indiana. Upon John's death, Pat returned to the Quad Cities.
Pastimes for Pat included time with her family and friends, reading, mysteries on television, watching the river at Sunset Marina Park where she would often take a packed lunch, going for walks, and attending the Senior's programs in Aledo and Rock Island where she made new friends and got reacquainted with several people that she knew prior to her move to Indiana. Pat also loved to find a comfortable spot at the mall or at events to just sit and people watch. Hummingbirds were a favorite of Pat's. She had several patio feeders and would sit patiently on the lookout for those hummingbirds who favored her with their presence.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister Jean (Ernie) Rangel of Silvis and husband John.
Survivors include her children Barbara Crandall, Terry Henry, Sandra (Tim) Wood, Deborah (Bob) Hogan, Barbara Thornhill Hendershot, and Johnny (Crystal) Thornhill. There are also six grandchildren, their spouses, and six great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews, and loving extended family and friends. Every year, she consistently sent birthday cards to many family members who looked forward to finding these greetings in their mailboxes. Pat was a lovely lady and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Quad City Animal Shelter at 724 – 2nd Avenue West, Milan or Rescued at 2105 – 16th Street, Moline in memory of Pat's beloved Pepper.
