Patricia (Pat) A. Hardin, 81, of Moline and formerly Andalusia, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline surrounded by many of her loving family and friends.
Pat was born on March 11, 1935 in Moline, the daughter of Kennard and Helen (Panther) Griffith. She married George Hardin on October 14, 1956; he preceded her in death in 1991. Pat graduated from Rock Island High School in 1953 and continued to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse at Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1956. Pat worked as an RN at Moline Public Hospital, Rock Island Visiting Nurses, Trinity Hospital, Moline Anesthesiologist Group, ORA, and Avonlea Cottage of The Quad Cities. Pat was a part of the first Quad Cities open-heart team and helped in the opening of the Quad Cities Kidney Center with Dr. Alla. She was a devoted member of Moline's Salem Lutheran Church, a past president of the Andalusia Lion's Club, and a past President on Moline Public Alumni Association at the time of their transition to United Hospital where she later received the first Lifetime Service Award from the Trinity Alumni Association. Pat's life revolved around spending time with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren as well as many friends. In Pat's spare time, she found great joy in helping others.
Pat is survived by her children, Kent (Jill) Hardin, Andalusia, Kim (David) Luder, Moline, and Mike "Barney" (Tammie) Hardin, Rock Island; Grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Mehrens, Seth Hardin, Drew (Heidi) Luder, Monika Luder, Miranda Luder, Aimee (Troy) Porter, Erica (Jonathon) Helms and Amber Hardin; Four great-grandchildren with a little blessing on the way; Three bonus great-grandchildren; special friend Bill Sehnert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, parents Kennard and Helen, and brother Kenneth Griffith.
A memorial service will be held at 10am, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave, Milan. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, the Kay B. Coin Nursing Scholarship in memorial of Pat Hardin MPH Class of 1956, or the Andalusia Lion's Club.
