Patrick E. Smith, 80, of Rock Island died Friday April 1, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held at the City Limits Grill in Rock Island on Saturday, April 9th from 1-4 PM.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Patrick was born in Davenport, on July 1, 1935 and was the son of Emmett and Inest Smith and attended Alleman High Scholl in Rock Island. He married Patricia C. Rowe on Sept 4, 1954 and had 8 children.

Patrick was a lifelong employee of Alcoa Aluminum-Davenport Works, retiring from there in 1993. He and his wife Patricia moved to Manteo, NC in 1999. Patricia passed away in 2000 and Patrick moved back to Rock Island a year later.

On September 6, 2003 Patrick married Janice Rowe and lived in Rock Island for the rest of his life.  Pat and Jan enjoyed golfing and a wide circle of wonderful friends and family.

Survivors include brother John (Jack) Smith daughters Karen Jones (Kim), Kathy Smith(Buzz), Nancy Smith (Wayne), Gloria Smith, and son, Sean Smith (Amanda), and 4 step-children, Sue Gannon (Mike), Richard Rowe (Anna), Kelly McCarty, and Ryan Rowe (Beth)  and several  grandchildren, step-grandchildren great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by three children, Cynthia Schmidt, Linda Collins (Jerry), and Christopher Smith, step-daughter Julie Rowe, brother Joe, and 3 sisters, Rosemary, Joyce, and Margaret, and a granddaughter, Charlie Emma Schmidt. He had several nieces and nephews in the area.
