Obituary

Paul R. Bleuer, 66, of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:00pm with a rosary at 4:00pm on Monday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of Alleman High School, St. Joseph's Evening Meal or the Make A Wish Foundation.

Paul Richard Bleuer was born on August 13, 1948 in Rock Island, a son of Charles W. and Kathryn Franck Bleuer. He married Renee Slater on November 8, 1980 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Des Moines. Paul worked as a computer programmer at Franciscan Hospital for 12 years. He then worked at Von Maur for 10 years, but had most recently worked part time for Bituminous Insurance. Paul enjoyed golfing and coaching any sport his children took an interest in. He was a dedicated Chicago sports fan, primarily supporting the Cubs and Bears.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee; mother, Kathryn, Milan; children, Roseanne ( Amanda Piper) Bleuer, Galesburg, Anthony (Meghan Volkert) Bleuer, Rock Island and Sarah (Andrew) Gustafson, E. Moline; a grandson, Owen Gustafson; siblings, Charles P. (Nancy) Bleuer, Milan, Mary Jo (Bruce) Bleuer-Terstage, Orion, Robert (Connie) Bleuer, Davenport and Margaret Bleuer, Davenport, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles.
