Pauline F. Strickler, 88, a resident of Amber Ridge, Moline, formerly of Rock Island, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Amber Ridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Boys Town, Boys Town, Neb. or to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Pauline F. Widmar was born June 28, 1926 in Rathbun, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Cecilia Kuchan Widmar. She married Marvin D. Strickler on Feb. 18, 1950 in Rock Island. He died April 9, 2010.
Pauline worked in a variety of positions prior to her marriage to Marvin, including doing fashion wear modeling. However, she cherished her role as homemaker for her husband and children.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Croatian Crest Club, Moline. She was a regular attendee of Circa 21, Rock Island and had done volunteer work, including serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader.
Survivors include her children, Martin Strickler, Milan, Cheryl (Kirk) Theus, Tremonton, Utah, and Marion (Beverly) Strickler, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandson; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Widmar, of Minnesota; and several nephews and nieces, including, Mark (Jean) Zaputil, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; daughter-in-law, Iris Strickler; brothers, Tony and Frank Widmar; sister, Olive Zaputil; and two sisters in infancy.
