Pedro C. Mejia, 92, of Rock Island, left the arms of his family and friends on Sunday, January 16, 2022.  He passed away peacefully at his home.

Visitation will be 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.

Pedro was born December 8, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Jose Antero Mejia & Josefa Castro Mejia.  He married Maria Lira on August 24, 1953 in Santa Elena, TX, she preceded him in death.  Pedro retired from John Deere Foundry after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and reading.  Pedro especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  Pedro was a life time member of Spanish Mennonite Church in Moline, IL and Davenport, IA.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons and daughter-in-laws, Eliseo and Mikaela Mejia, Oklahoma City, OK, Isaias "Ike" and Josefina Mejia, Rock Island, Ismael and Anna Mejia, Rock Island, Guadalupe and Ramona Mejia, Rock Island, Pedro Mejia Jr. and family, Aledo; Adalberto and Blanca Mejia, Rock Island, Antero Mejia, Crystal City, TX, and Santos Mejia, East Moline, IL; daughters and son-in-laws, Margie and Josue Mejia-Caraballo, Rock Island, Josefa Mejia, East Moline, and Maria Brannan, Dothan, AL; sister, Bersabe Alvarado, Weslaco, TX; 33 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and 6 grandchildren on the way.  He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Mejia and grandsons, Cody Brannan and Joseph Mejia.
