Peggy L. Pemberton, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, May 29,2014, at Riverwood Rehabilitation, East Moline.

A Celebration of life service will be noon Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly

Funeral Home, Rock Island, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service

time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Peggy was born Jan. 20, 1946, in Shoffner, Ark., the eldest of 10

children, also the oldest girl. She is the daughter of John Henry

"Buster" Talley and Lois Young.

She liked to read books, play Bid Whist, watch westerns on TV and

enjoyed the company of family and friends. She had been employed as a

Certified Nurses Aid, last working at St. Anthony's, Rock Island. She

had previously been employed at Seaford Clothing, Rock Island.

Peggy leaves behind a host of friends and family members, longtime

companion, Irving Sallie, Rock Island; mother, Lois Talley-Johnson,

East Moline Nursing Home; siblings, John Arlandis (friend, Donna),

Rock Island, Felisita M. Weatherall (husband, Richard), Milwaukee,

Wis., Lenora A. Talley, Houston, Texas, Lawrence Edward, Peoria, Ill.,

Douglas Stephon Talley, Rock Island, Judith A. Ndubisi, Minneapolis,

Minn., Raymond Anthony, Rock Island. She also leaves many great

nieces, nephews, cousins and dozens of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Talley Jr.;

grandfather, John Henry Talley Sr.; grandmothers, Samella Harnett and

Inez Talley; sister, Helen Jean Minter; brother, Samuel Louis Talley;

uncles, J. B. Shockley, Roland McCarroll, Frank Roddy, Ed Young,

Melvin Young.
