Peggy J. Johnson, 82, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services are 10 am Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Entombment is in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island.  Visitation is 5 to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to any local animal shelter.

Peggy Robertson was born August 10, 1934 in Fairfield, Iowa, a daughter of James and Olive Dunbar Robertson.  She married Charles W. "Bill" Johnson on May 13, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa.  He died Dec. 11, 1997.

Peggy served as the bookkeeper for her late husband's business, Bill's Skelly of Rock Island.

She had attended Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.  Peggy was a life member of the Lincoln School P.T.A.  She enjoyed walking at Sunset Park and Marina, working in her yard, and growing tomatoes, but her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and granddogs.

Survivors include her children, Warren Johnson, Rock Island, Sharon (Steve) Leech, Murray, KY and Debra Brooks, Rock Island; grandchildren, Sommer (Jason) Livengood, Erica (Lachlan) Pegg, Amber (Keith) Edmondson, and Diane (Tyler) Wentler;  and great-grandchildren, Alexis Livengood and Kaelyn Edmondson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great-granddaughter, Sophia J. Edmondson; a sister; and three brothers.
