Obituary

Philip J. Carman, 86, of Milan, passed away Sunday December 6, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 10am, Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legions 569, 200 and VFW 1303. Memorials may be made to the Milan American Legion or to the family.
Philip was born on March 2, 1929 in Petersburg, IL, the son of James and Kathryn Carman. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1947. Philip married Helen Holtan in November of 1951. He later married Darlene Wicht on February 26, 1954. She preceded him in death. He married Joan VanBrocklin on January 24, 1964. She also preceded him in death. He later married Doris Jean Pullin on May 29, 1976.
Mr. Carman had been employed at the former Farmall Works, Rock Island for 27 years. He was a US Army veteran. His memberships included the Milan American Legion Post 569, Rock Island Fraternal Order of Eagles and Rock Island County 40 & 8.
Survivors include his children, Randy Carman, Teri (Kenny) Sutherland, all of Wyanet, IL; Bob(Karen) VanBrocklin, Ft. Madison, Norva (Kenny) DeWeise, Moline; his best friend, Julie Mears; grandchildren, Madell, John, Eleina, Jason, Heather, Toni, Molly, Samantha, Francis, Ching, Jayar; great grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter, Eli, Haylie, Violet, John Jr., Francine, Zian, Ziv, Zyjan, Zhamea; niece, Lori(Montey) Brown; nephew, Steve Carman; and great-nephew, Nick Vanhoorebeck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Norman VanBrocklin; sisters, Bernice Williamson, Irene Ortman, Helen Owens and brother, Harris Carman.
