Phillip “Phil” Parrick, 83, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Barry, Illinois American Legion Post #222.

Phil was born on August 30, 1942, in Pleasant Vale Township, Illinois, a son of Lewis “Pete” and Rena (Lee) Parrick. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. On May 30, 1961, he married the love of his life, Janice Klitz, in Barry, Illinois, beginning a marriage that spanned 65 years.

Phil dedicated many years of service as a boiler operator at the Rock Island Arsenal before retiring. Never one to sit still, he continued working in retirement as a truck driver, a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the American Legion in Barry, Illinois, and had a lifelong passion for motorsports, especially National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) racing. Phil could often be found tinkering in his garage, working on street rod motorcycles, or riding motorcycles. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish Phil’s memory include his wife of 65 years, Jan; daughter, Tina Marie (Joseph) Mockmore; son, Phil Parrick Jr.; grandson, Zachary Bacon; and granddaughter, Monica Bacon.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lewis “Buddy” Parrick; and sister, Patty Ansteine.
