Phyllis M. Bivens, 92, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Edgington Cemetery, Edgington. Visitation will be held 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Phyllis was born December 30, 1922 in Edgington, the daughter of John and Ruth (Whitney) Vroman Jr. She married Raymond Bivens on November 21, 1941 in Louisiana. Phyllis was employed as a secretary for the Rock Island Arsenal. She enjoyed volunteering for UPH-Trinity Hospital.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Dennis (Anna) Bivens, West Minister, MD; grandchildren, Tammy (Jeff) McManus, Taylor Ridge and Kelly (Meredith) Bivens, Evanston, IL; great grandchildren, Chevy (Breanna) McManus, Chelsea McManus, Dakota McManus, Samantha McManus, Kate Bivens, Claire, Bivens, and Colin Bivens; and sister, Diane Veberg, Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Bivens; parents; son, Ronald Bivens; and sisters, Evelyn Schave and Helen Arne.
