Obituary

Phyllis Jean Adams, 80, was born on April 21, 1935, in Moline, IL to Genevieve

Greenup Hayes and Daniel "Zeb" Collins.  She passed away peacefully on Wed. April

6, 2016 in Baton Rouge, LA  surrounded by family.

As a young child, Phyllis lived with her grandparents Heber and Fannie Hayes in

Rock Island.  She later moved to California with her mother and step-father Earl Albert

Stoner, whom she called "Blade".   Phyllis spent most of her life in the Quad

Cities, retired from Eagle Warehouse, but moved to Baton Rouge in 1990 where she worked as the CEO

of St. Gabriel Health Center in St. Gabriel, LA.  She retired from there and moved back

to IL in 2006. Phyllis was involved in many organizations in this area before

moving to LA. She was always an advocate for minority rights and became President

of the local NAACP.  She was also an  Administrative Assistant at the Neighborhood Health Center,

and was involved in Project Now. Phyllis touched many lives in different ways and will be

remembered for always speaking her mind.  She is survived by daughters, Tracey Adams-Carnes (Darryl)

of Baton Rouge, Shelby Adams-Brown (Terrell) of Chicago, and sons, Darrell Lee (Frankie) of Sacramento,

Craig Lee (Francine) of Moline, Alvin Pickett (Jennifer ) of Peoria, Dana Adams of Moline, and Keith

Adams of Cherokee, IA.   She's also survived by her siblings Donna Stoner of Rock Island, Adrian

(Melanie) Stoner of Moline, Melody Collins of Omaha, Krystal Stoner of Baltimore, Karen Stoner of

Milwaukee, Nita Stoner of Kansas City and Tina Stoner of Stockton, CA.  19 grandchildren and 15 great-

grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and two special Aunts, Alberta Crump and

Connie Overton. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents, her son Calvin (Sonny) Lee,

brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Ernestine Collins and grandsons, Julien and Craig Lee.

The funeral will be a private ceremony  with  just family.   Friends and associates are welcome to join the family at the repass to share stories or just to pay your respects.  The repass will be held on Sat. April 16, 2016 at Parmenas Association Lodge, 321 W. 8th St. (between Ripley and Harrison) in

Davenport, IA at 12:30 p.m.
