Phyllis J. "Joanne" Crow, 86, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island. Per her wishes, graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Those who wish to attend graveside services should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made in care of the St. John's Lutheran Parish Nurse Fund.

Phyllis Joanne Crow was born on June 28, 1929, the daughter of Ross and Anna Lynn (Allen) Crow. Joanne graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. For the majority of her nursing career, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Moline Lutheran Hospital, serving as a staff nurse, director of the orthopedic unit and then director of nursing. She retired from there after 33 years. Joanne was also a Parish Nurse at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island for 10 years.

Joanne was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. She was very passionate about nursing, her faith, and the dogs who were her cherished companions over the years, especially Star. Nursing was in her heart and spirit until the final moments of her life.

Survivors include her cousins, Shelia Emerick, Joyce Crull, Janet Whittington, and Dorothy Hetzler; lifelong friends, Dorothy Cowells, Ilse Ryan, Olga Scherer, Maxine Duhm and all of her nursing friends; her family at St. John's Lutheran Church and her special friends, Jaylene Peterson, Karen Anderson, and Pastor Stacie Fidlar. Special thanks to Dr. Alex Pareigis and his staff for their years of care and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Anna Lynn Crow and her beloved cousin, Stirling Schwiebert.
