Phyllis J. Dull, 92, of Moline, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at her home. Private inurnment services for Mrs. Dull will be Friday at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, where she was a member.
Phyllis Jean Garner was born on July 13, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of Paul and Wanda (Crumley) Garner. She married Sydney S. Dull Jr. on June 20, 1954 in Parkville, Missouri. Sydney preceded her in death on September 22, 2014.
Phyllis graduated from Wellington High School in Wellington, Kansas in 1948. She then graduated from Park University in Parkville, Missouri. Phyllis moved with her family to Moline in 1956 when her husband, Syd joined Deere & Company. She taught second graders in school for a time and later returned to teaching as a substitute teacher in the 1970's. Mrs. Dull also taught adults how to read and write.
Phyllis and Syd enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed house boating on the Mississippi River, sewing, refinishing furniture and flower gardening. She was an amazing cook and active in her church.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Craig and Marlene Dull, Moline; a sister and brother in law, Marian and Hans Ericson, Boulder, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sydney; sons, Wayne Dull and Kenneth Dull.
Mrs. Dull's family would like to thank Hope United Church of Christ for their prayers and support, Genesis Visiting Nurses and Hospice for her wonderful care, and a special thank you to Karen Pratt for her help in caring for Phyllis.
