IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis M.
Jespersen
November 28, 1925 – January 15, 2025
Phyllis M. Jespersen, 99, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those who would like to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island.
Phyllis was born November 28, 1925, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Paul and Florence (Durose) Kautz. She married John Jespersen on November 16, 1946, in Minnesota. Together they had three children and moved to Illinois in 1960. Phyllis was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Rock Island for over 60 years, where she met many of her close friends. When not enjoying gossip with her friends, she loved bird watching, boating, camping, and spending time with her family. Over the years, Phyllis worked at many places including the family business Team Electronics in Rock Island, the jewelry counter at Sears, as a telephone operator and addressographer, and as a candymaker during WWII.
Left to cherish Phyllis' memory include her children, Barbara (Thomas) Warren, Moline, and Wayne Jespersen (Dorothy Berg), Rock Island; son-in-law, Larry Requet, Arizona; grandchildren, Keith (Rachel) Requet, Adrienne Warren, Jillian (Kyle) Harms, and Juli Jespersen; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Elias, and Eden; many nieces and nephews in Minnesota; her furry friend, Max that she loved dearly; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2018; her daughter, Diane in 2019; and her best friend, Marcie in 2024.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support in helping care for Phyllis, especially her close friend, Dorothy Berg, her neighbors, and her friends and staff at Friendship Manor.
