Phyllis A. Powell, 86, of Moline, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Phyllis Arlene Normoyle was born on February 7, 1929 in Moline, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl Johnson Normoyle. She married Neil R. Powell in 1949 in Florida. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1985. Phyllis worked as a Bridal sales specialist for several area clothing retailers over the years. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her large extended family, reading, attending yard sales and auctions, as well as traveling.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Pat Witherspoon, Silvis, Pam (Tom) Slead, Moline, Norma McDonald, Rock Island, Gary (Barb) Powell, Milan and Dorothy (Joel) Thone, Rochester, N.H.; grandchildren, Troy Larson, Christopher Robb, Carrina McCraw, Jason Slagel, Amanda Chevins, Jeremy Slagel, Nicholas Valberg, Daniel Powell, Derrick Powell, Tod Thone, Zachariah Thone, Eric Slead, Brianna DeGrace and Brenton Powell; along with 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Neil R. Powell, Sr., son, Neil R. "Butch" Powell, Jr. and her brother, Thomas Normoyle.
