Ralph F. Druhl, 89, of Rock Island, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made in care of the Q.C. Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Ralph was born in rural Davenport, Iowa on March 17, 1926, a son of Fred and Ruth Buffum Druhl. He married Marilyn Hudson in Davenport, Iowa. He later married Eileen Gordon on December 28, 1962 in Rock Island, Illinois.
Ralph was a driver for Downing's Dairy (Swiss Valley Farms) his entire career.
He was a current member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. He was a gentle man who never met a person he didn't like.
Ralph enjoyed gardening, camping and feeding the birds and squirrels. He and Eileen adopted several stray cats over their lifetime and loved all wildlife. He was an country music fan, listening to Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson among others.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Gordon, Rock Island; children (and spouses), Diana (Dan) Rossmiller, Amarillo, Texas, Michael (Paddy) Druhl, Manchester, Iowa and Julie (Joe) Jaklic, Milford, Michigan; step-sons, Terry (Susan) Gordon and Steve (Kris) Gordon, both of Rock Island; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma (Sam) Morrison, West Liberty, Iowa, Viola Levetzow, Wilton, Iowa and Bonnie (Jerry) VanLoon, Long Grove, Iowa; and brother-in-law, Jugg Roop, Buffalo, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Walters, brother, John Druhl, sisters, Dorothy Roop, Irene Witherow and Gert Plett, sister-in-law, Marty Druhl, and brothers-in-law, Jack Witherow, Earl Levetzow and Don Plett.
