Ralph L. Hood, 70, of Milan, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 11, 2015 at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Moline American Legion Post #246 will perform military honors. Those wishing to attend the service are to meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, by 1:00 PM to go in procession. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Ralph's honor.

Ralph was born January 30, 1945 in Biloxi, MS, the son of John and Alice (Noel) Hood. He married Nancy Sumner on June 29, 1973 in Rock Island. Ralph was employed as a locomotive electrician for the Rock Island Railroad and later worked in locomotive sales at National Railway Equipment Company, Silvis. He enjoyed ornithology, classical and opera music, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, and hunting and fishing. Ralph served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Hood, Milan; sisters, Joan (Jerry) Lemburg, Blue Grass, IA and Joyce (Jim) Draper, New Port Richey, FL; many nieces and nephews; and long time family friend Terry Mahon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Hood.
