"Joe" Raisbeck

Ralph J. "Joe" Raisbeck, 86, of Milan, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:30 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Viola, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made in care of St. Ambrose Catholic Church or to the Rock Island-Milan Little League Baseball.
Joe was born in Woodhull, Ill. on September 9, 1928, a son of Joseph and Ann Bonick Raisbeck. He married Wanda Sanders on November 22, 1958. She preceded him in death on October 2, 2007.
Joe was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the 453rd Engineer Construction Battalion unit during the Korean War. He worked as a radio communication technician and dispatcher for the Illinois State Police for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
Joe was very active with the Rock Island-Milan Little League baseball program. In fact, he took care of the fields for the last 25 years. Joe was also a very active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching and attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include: his sons, Gregory (Jill) Raisbeck, Milan and Stephen Raisbeck, Rock Island; grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Raisbeck, Amanda (Tim) Jackson, Ory (Seajaye) Raisbeck, Jeremy Semonis, Amy (Steve Smith) Raisbeck, Sean Semonis, Cale Raisbeck, Josh Price and Cassie Wales; and one great-granddaughter, Sierra Jackson.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, parents, daughter, Laurie Raisbeck, Grandson, Brady Raisbeck, sister, Mary Farntz, and brothers, Albert and Leo Raisbeck.
