Raymond E. Brown, 66, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his home.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island, where visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday. Burial, with military honors, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island.

Raymond was born July 27, 1947 in Kingfisher, OK, a son of Odell and Alma (Harvey) Brown. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Raymond was employed for over 30 years at John Deere, Harvester Works, East Moline. He retired in 1995. Following his retirement, he worked at Family Dollar and Dollar General, both in Rock Island, and also at LaQuinta Inn and Suites.

He was a member of the U.A.W. , Local 865, and the Disabled American Veterans. Raymond enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, bowling, and sports.

Survivors include his children (and spouse), Raymond Glass, Tina (Kevin) Glass-Lewis, and Corey Brown, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, LaKia Bassett, Tykarra Lewis, Alexis Lewis, and Ava Brown; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cora Atkins, Rock Island, Barbara Woods, East Moline, Linda (Levernal) Nicholson, Rock Island, Vernita Ross, Davenport, Juanita (Bernard) Lacey, Rock Island and Darla King, Rock Island; brothers, Earl Wayne (Margaret) Brown, Kingfisher, OK, Orville (Michelle) Brown, Las Vegas, NV, Timothy (Mozella) King, Watonga, OK, Erwin King, Bettendorf, Eric King, East Moline, and Richard King, Rock Island; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Odell Brown, mother, Alma N. Brown King, stepfather, Eugene King, brother, Herschel Brown, sister, Maggie Hill, and two nieces, Bettina Lacey and Rosalind Hoye.
