IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond "Ray"
Roman
April 18, 1951 – August 3, 2015
Raymond "Ray" Roman, 64, of Rock Island, passed away Monday August 3, 2015 at home.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Children's Therapy Center, Moline or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Ray was born on April 18, 1951 in Davenport, the son of Richard and Ruth Roman.
Mr. Roman had most recently been employed at Forward Air as a dispatcher.
Ray was a gentle giant. He loved family, friends, fishing, football, fixing things and his beloved dog Bailey. He had a passion for life and was a father figure to many people. He raised two sons to believe that leaving this earth a little better off than you found it was the right thing to do. Ray could often be found helping friends and family with what ever needed to be fixed or fishing with his best friend. He loved one woman his entire life and was her rock whenever life, as it often does, got a little tough. He could always be counted on to do the right thing.
He was known as "Papa Ray" to his first granddaughter(Macyn). A new granddaughter is expected in the very near future and we will instill "Papa Ray's" love of life in her as well. No one else will be able to lift these granddaughters as high as he could and make them feel as if they were on top of the world.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marsha Roman; sons, Michael (Bobette) Patterson, Mark (Deanna) Roman; granddaughters, Macyn Patterson, Alex and Camryn Wilson and one on the way; mother, Ruth Roman; brothers, Ron (Linda) Roman, Steve (Dana) Roman, Ned (Carla) Roman and Stan (Amy) Roman.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kara Roman and his father, Richard Roman.
