Raymond W. Webster, 93, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation Pavilion, Rock Island.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon) on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors performed by Moline American Legion Post #246.
Raymond was born April 28, 1924 to Walter and Emma (Arp) Webster. Raymond served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He was stationed in England and France.
He married Phyllis Stubbe on May 27, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2010.
Ray was employed at Miller Container Corp before starting his own business, Webster Steel Rule Dye for 40 years. He then was Blackhawk Township Assessor for nine years.
His memberships included the V.F.W., American Legion, and Rock Island Elks.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, George, John, and Walter Jr.; sisters, Helen Bottoni, Betty Melody Luckenbihl, and Bernice Baker. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Baker of Davenport and Donna (James) Nelson of Moline; several nieces and nephews; and good friends of 50+ years, Keith (Pearl) Smith, Rock Island.
