Remy M. Billups, 54, of Chicago, formerly of Sherrard, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Chicago. Inurnment services for Mr. Billups will be 11 am, Friday at the Preemption Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 pm, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be established at a later date.

Remy was born on July 4, 1962 in Monmouth, a son of Harry Billups and Rose Brennan Billups. He graduated from Sherrard High School and Southern Illinois University with a Master's Degree in Higher Education.

Remy never knew a stranger. He had a huge network of friends who became his family in Chicago.  Remy also enjoyed traveling the world, visiting places such as Ireland, Scotland, Las Vegas and just last month returned from a trip to Puerto Rico.

Mr. Billups worked as a retail supervisor at Chicago's United Center and Wrigley Field.  Aside from his love of the Cubs, he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan as well as the Chicago Blackhawks.  To honor Remy's love of all sports, his family will be wearing sports jerseys at Thursday's visitation – and they invite guests to do the same.

Survivors include his father and step mother, Harry and Loretta Billups, Sherrard; siblings and spouses, Raelene and Tom DePorter, Milan, and Renee and Michael Kelly, Rock Island plus nephews Tad (Kristin) DePorter, Matthew (Sara) DePorter, Alex and Noah Kelly, and niece Joanne (Jeff) Britton, and several great-nieces and nephews.
