Rene S. Rangel, 73, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Services for Mr. Rangel will be 10 am, Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 am to 10 am at the funeral home.

Rene was born on November 3, 1945 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, a son of Roberto and Rosa Serrano Rangel. He married Paula Ruiz on July 13, 1968 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Mr. Rangel worked as a mechanic for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the UAW and the Milan Rifle Club. Rene enjoyed playing Handball, competitive shooting, bowling, magic, baseball and boxing. Mr. Rangel became a U.S. Citizen in September of 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Paula; children and their (spouses), Rosa Rangel (Troy McMeekan), Milan, Rene (Jeni) Rangel, Ft. Collins, CO., Omar (Nicole) Rangel, Des Moines, Lupe Rangel, Rock Island, Marlon (Holly) Rangel, Moline, Dalila Rangel (Todd Courter), Milan, Orlando Rangel, Milan; 15 grandchildren; and a great grandchild on the way; and several brothers and sisters.
