Renzee C. Crossan, 94, of Sherrard, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the Silvis Care Center.
Renzee was born on September 12, 1931, to Raymond and Hilja (Bernu) Atkinson of New York Mills, Minnesota. Following high school graduation, she located to Galesburg, Illinois, and worked in administration at Cottage Hospital. She met and married Charles L. Crossan while working at Admiral Manufacturing in Galesburg. Renzee worked for Deere and Company Export Order Department for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Following retirement, she spent her time taking care of her home and yard, traveling nationally and internationally, enjoying the arts, Ceili Irish dancing, reading, painting, and a brief time modeling. One of her most memorable trips was to Turkey in 2010 visiting biblical sites with her daughter, Michele. She often told of local Turks in the bazaar pronouncing her name with ease.
She is survived by her daughters, Desiree Matkovich (East Moline, Illinois) and Michele Allen (Flagstaff, Arizona).
Renzee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and son-in-law, Steven Matkovich.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Cable Community Church, Sherrard, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
