Rev. Gary G. Coon, 70, of Milan, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.  Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Gary was born in Moline on October 17, 1945, the son of Harold G. and Rose E. Nordstrom Coon.  Gary was a U.S. Army veteran.

Gary retired from Alcoa in 2014.

Gary's passion in life was ministry and his love for God.  He was a licensed ordained minister through the Illinois Assembly of God who filled in at many Illinois churches as needed.  He was a member and elder of New Life Fellowship Church in Moline.  He was also in charge of their new member ministry class as well as a life group leader.  In Gary's spare time he enjoyed shooting, camping and traveling to Colorado, motorcycles and fishing.

Survivors include his children, Kelly (Dale) Ramsey, Moline, Jennifer (Kirk) Pittman and Matthew Coon, both of Milan; and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
