Rex E. Kitt Jr., 69, of Preemption, Ill., died Friday, October 28, 2022 at home.  A memorial service will be 2 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be from 12-2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be private at Preemption Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.

Rex was born in Rock Island, Illinois on June 18, 1953, a son of Rex E. and Eleanor Poma Kitt.  He graduated from Moline High School in 1971.  Rex married Nancy J. Stark on November 9, 1987 in Rock Island.  She preceded him in death on May 23, 2012.

Rex worked 28 years as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.  He retired in 2013.

Rex was an avid golfer and boater.  He was a long-time member of the Eagle's Lodge No. 956.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving partner and selfless caregiver, Sue Nelson, Annawan, Ill.; son, Nathan (Lisa) Kitt, Port Byron, Ill.; step-children, Joeline (Jeff) Stark Bowden, Sherrard, Ill. and Angela Stark Benham, Davenport; grandchildren, Hunter Kitt, Brandon Bowden, Danielle Sassman and Stephanie Benham; sisters, Karen (Roger) Pritt, Universal City, Texas, Rita Laurin, Rock Island and Roxanne (Jerry) DeWulf, Muskego, Wisc.; nieces, Kerry Laurin and Kelly Lapinski; and nephew, Scott Pritt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
