Richard “Big George” “Big ‘E’” L. Anderson, 59, Davenport, IA passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA. The family will be having a memorial service at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Friends of MLK Live Life Center - 501 Brady Street Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.

Richard was born on December 26, 1966, to Eddie Mae (Hubert) Smith in Tunica, MS. The family moved to Davenport in 1971. He attended Central High School where he was on the wrestling team. He graduated in June of 1986. After graduation, he started his career in the food manufacturing industry at Brach’s Candy. He then worked for Oscar Mayer, which later became Kraft Heinz foods, retiring after 26 years with the company.

Richard was an avid sports fan. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball and football in Harrington Park. He also liked watching sports. Richard also liked going to the casino and playing cards with friends and family.

He is survived by his siblings, Henry (Elise) Anderson, Shirley Hubert, Bernard (Christine) Anderson, and Oscar L. Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Keyvan Walton, Pastor Steven Morgan, Michael E. Morgan Sr., and Ike Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Pearlie Mae Jackson; and many other relatives.
