"Dick" Quist

Richard C. "Dick" Quist, 86, of Bettendorf, left the arms of his loving family on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 and arrived into the open arms of Jesus. He is restored and celebrating life eternal.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Private burial with military honors will be Friday at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
Richard Charles Quist was born June 14, 1928 in Boyd, Minn., a son of Edward and Amanda Uglem Quist. He married the love of his life, Ann, on June 15, 1957 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Denver, Colo.
Dick attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He had worked for 33 years at Gate City Steel, Davenport and was a manager when he retired in 1986.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a Sgt. First Class during the Korean war. Dick was a longtime active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former member of the Davenport Rotary and Davenport Elks Clubs. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. The most important things in Dick's life however, were God, his family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter and son-in-law, Darci and Dr. Tom Woodard, Urbandale, Iowa; son, Bret Quist, Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Jenna (Tom) Harmon, Nick Woodard (Jordan Bussanmus) and Nicole Quist; brothers, Warren (Betty) Quist, San Luis Obispo, Calif. and Leigh (Babs) Quist, Aurora, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Quist; and sister, Edith Ann Quist.
