Richard J. "Dick" Eckhardt, 89, of Fallbrook, CA, formerly of Buffalo Prairie, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Fallbrook.  Memorial services will be held at the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church at a later date.  Burial took place in the Masonic Cemetery in Fallbrook on February 12.  Memorials may be made in care of the Alzheimer's Association, donorservicesinfo@alz.org or 1-800-272-3900.

Dick was born on February 19, 1926 on the family farm in Buffalo Prairie.  He was a proud military veteran who served in World War II.  Following his military service, he earned a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Illinois.  He worked as a Civil Engineer for the Los Angeles Flood Control District for much of his career.  Dick was a member of the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge #679 in Illinois, as well as the Moline Consistory, Valley of Moline.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Sarah Eckhardt and brother, Ernest "Dutch" Eckhardt.
