Richard (Dick) A Johnson, 85, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday January 12, 2022 at Silver Cross Nursing Center in Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Dick was born on December 24th, 1936 in Burlington Iowa, the son of Alfred and Fern (Spratt) Johnson. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1954.

Dick was married to Bonnie (Bentrim) Johnson for 42 years. He retired after many years from JI Case Rock Island and later East Moline.

Dick was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  He loved boating, bowling, playing cards, following Illini football, and cheering on the Chicago Bears, even in their challenging years.

Survivors include Pam (Mark) Stehn, Rock Island, Scott (Carol) Johnson, Taylor Ridge, Randy Johnson, Chicago, Dr. Todd Johnson, Elkhart, Kansas, Tina (Roy) Stevens, Beloit, WI. Grandchildren Joey, Tony, Katie, Alissa, Carrie, Cassandra, Courtney, and Erin, 15 great grandchildren, close friend Lisa Holdorf, and his loving puppy Abby, that followed him everywhere.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Fern, his sister Shalaine Johnson, and special friend Diane Orendorff.

The family wishes to offer their heartfelt thanks to Silver Cross Nursing Staff, and the Unity Point Hospice Nurses for their compassionate care and friendship to Dick. (He loved playing Yahtzee and Euchre with the Hospice staff and especially winning!)

Memorials may be left to the American Heart Association.
