Richard "Dick" M. Frerker, 67, of Davenport, passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Genesis East – Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Sled Hockey Association or to the Davenport Challenger League.
Dick was born on October 5, 1954 in Dane County, WI, the son of Herman and Ilene (Abdoo) Frerker. He married Sharon DePaepe on June 16, 1984 in East Moline, she preceded him in death in 2013. Dick retired from IBM as a computer repairman, he also had worked for GE. Dick was a proud veteran of the U.S Marine Corps. He enjoyed hosting and being the life of every party, and could always be found with a Busch Light in hand. The first week of August you could find Dick and Nick at the Mississippi Valley Fair. Dick could also be found boating on the Mississippi river with his boating crew, or out hunting with his Edgewood friends. Dick was a man of many words and never knew a stranger. He was very active in the Quad City Sled Hockey and Davenport Challenger League, with his son, Nick. Dick also enjoyed to travel, especially Destin, FL which was frequented every year. Most of all Dick loved spending time with his family and close friends, especially his grandson, Ash, who was his whole world.
Dick is survived by his sons, Darin (fiancé, Jennifer Tacker) and Nicholas Frerker; grandson, Ashten Frerker; Terry (Teri) Frerker, Robert (Barb) Frerker; Jane (Jim) Steinmetz; and Barbara (John) Spencer; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
