Richard T. Newman, 73, of Milan, passed away Thursday March 16, 2017 at UnityPoint- Trinity Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

In accordance with Richard's wishes, no services are planned at this time. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Richard was born November 22, 1943 in Moline, a son of A.L. "Bud" and Leota C. Kazenske Newman. He graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island, Class of 1961. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy.

Richard was a professional truck driver for over 30 years. He owned and operated Newman Trucking, Milan for many years. He was an avid Sprint Car racing fan, and enjoyed attending the Knoxville Nationals annually.

Surviving are his children, Tracy Brigger, and her husband Kelly, Rock Island, Donald Newman, Coal Valley, Bridget Newman, Des Moines, IA, and Chad Newman, Milan; grandchildren, Brandon Newman and Dalton Cullor; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Mary Newman, Clinton, IA, and Daniel and Donna Newman, Rock Island; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Donald Newman.
