Richard "Dick" Plohr, 67, of Milan, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military rites will be conducted. Memorials may be made in care of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Mayo Clinic.

Dick was born on November 26, 1947 in Springfield, Ill., a son of Stanley and Ruth Meier Plohr. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1965.

Dick married Carol Taylor on April 20, 1968 in Springfield, Ill.

Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Hawaii and Guam. He worked as a salesman for the Aurora Casket Company and for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers, where he retired in 2014.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Plohr, Milan; children (and spouses), Kim (Mark) Jochim, and Chris (April) Plohr, both of Rock Island; grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa and Austin Jochim and Kyrstin, Kyle and Kaylee Plohr; brothers, Tom (Barb) Plohr, Libertyville, Ill., Bob (Marilou) Plohr, Wildwood, Mo. and Mike (Diane) Plohr, Springfield, Ill.; sister-in-law, Janet Plohr, Sherman, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his "grand-dogger," Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill, granddaughter, Ashlynne Jochim and nephew, Michael Plohr.
