Richard L. Stodd of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Rich was 67 years old. Visitation will be held today, Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Rich's life with music, prayer, and fellowship. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Richard L. Stodd was born May 14, 1949 in Moline, a son of Richard E. and Evelyn G. Sanders Stodd. He married Janet L. McKelvey on May 27, 1972 in the Ascension Chapel at Augustana College, Rock Island. Rich spent his life giving music to the Quad City community. A graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, Rich taught band in East Moline, Moline, Alwood Schools in Alpha and Woodhull, and served as Associate Director of Bands with the Geneseo schools for 20 years. Following retirement, Rich could not stay away from music, and served as the Director of Operations for the Quad City Symphony until May, 2016. Rich also shared his love of music with the community, and directed the Maple City Band for many years. He and his family were active members of First Lutheran Church in Geneseo and St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet L. (McKelvey) Stodd of Moline; and his children, Erin (Stodd) Kozakis and Michael Kozakis of Schaumburg, Ill., Katie Stodd Knapp and David Knapp of Plainville, Conn., and Jenny Stodd and Todd Meredith of Barnegat, N.J.
