Rick D. Cassini, 71, of Rock Island, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, surrounded by his family. A memorial service for Mr. Cassini will be held at 3 pm, Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A visitation will be held on the same day from 1 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be established at a later date.

Rick was born on February 9, 1954, in Rock Island, the son of Peter J. Cassini and Beverly (Burke) Cassini. He married Sherri Glimpse on November 17, 1973, in East Moline. Together, they raised four children and had many years of happiness. Rick loved traditions, especially when they revolved around his family and holidays, a trait he inherited from his own father. Putting up Christmas lights was a particular joy for Rick and even in his last year when he was very sick, he made sure the lights went up. Rick also carried on the family trade of tile and stone fabrication as a third-generation owner of Cassini Tile and Marble until his retirement in 2017. Rick was intelligent and skilled in many things. You could ask him anything and you were certain to get at least one solid answer, sometimes many, as he would say, "there's more than one way to skin a cat". Rick also loved fishing and was, more than once, the host of delicious fish fry's that you were lucky to be a part of. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend and would walk through fire for anyone he loved. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri; children, Andrew (Autumn) Cassini, East Moline, Nisa Cassini (John Olsen), Davenport, and Angela (Jon) Kelley, Rock Island; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild who is on the way; siblings, Regina Holly Lange, AZ., Pamela (Tom) Rodems, GA., Gregory (Reba) Cassini, OH., Michael (Lorraine) Cassini, IL., and sister-in-law, Brenda Cassini, IL.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Damian; his big brother, Peter D. Cassini; and his brother-in-law, Michael Lange.
