(Conner) Beswick
August 15, 1930 – September 17, 2017
Rita I. Beswick, 87, a resident of Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, formerly of Rock Island, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at the center.
Funeral services will be 10 am on Thursday at Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island. Burial will be 2 pm Thursday at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Two Rivers United Methodist Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Rita I. Conner was born Aug. 15, 1930 in Fenton, a daughter of Ralph Sr. and Hazel Glazier Conner. She married Robert J. Beswick on Nov. 4, 1949 in Fenton. He died Nov. 21, 2014.
Rita returned to school as her children were growing and received training to be a registered nurse from Black Hawk College, graduating in 1972. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Moline Public Hospital and later did home health care.
Rita was a very active member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, serving on many committees and was involved in the shut-in ministry. She loved sending notes, cards and greetings to her many friends and large extended family. She also enjoyed crocheting, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and an avid Chicago Cubs fan, Rita was delighted to see them win the World Series.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Kari) Beswick, Rock Island, Roberta (James) Kavanaugh, Canyon Country, Calif., Ralph (Susan) Beswick, Rock Island, Ruth Ann (David) Jost, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Reva Beswick, Rock Island; grandchildren, Matthew, Genny, Dana, Sara, Stacy, Nathan, Megan, Melissa, Taylor, Becca, Jennifer, Bobby, Courtney and Topher; great-grandchildren, Kaeden, Britton, Ariel, Cove, Lydia, Travis, Taylor, Gibson, Lillian, Porter and Cecilia; sister, Shirley House; and brothers, Robert and Ralph Conner. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; great-grandson, Jeremy; sisters, Verneita Richardson, Marilyn Goodenough, Hazel Conner and Rebecca Iffland; and brothers, George and Richard Conner.
