Robert Lee Beck, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday May 4, 2024 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00am Friday May 17, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. The family will greet friends from 10:00am to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by United States Army.

Robert was born on October 8, 1943 in Mounds, Illinois, the son of John and Dovie Beck. Mr. Beck was a graduate of Cairo High School, where he excelled at several sports. Robert received a scholarship for basketball and baseball attending Southern Illinois University, where he majored in physical Education, until he was drafted in the Army..

Robert had been employed at Caterpillar for as a quality control coordinator. After retirement, he worked for Rock Island High School and had also managed the Rock Island Elks Club, where he had been a long standing member for over 30 years..

Robert enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was passionate about fishing, golfing and his bowling leagues.

Survivors include his two children, Lisa Beck, Maurice Beck; grandchildren, Evelyn McClain and Maurlyse Shropshire.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Velma Lewis.
