Robert L. Johnson, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Rock Island and Matherville, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at home.  The funeral service may be viewed via livestream at 1 pm Friday, November 13, 2020 by visiting www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream.  A public visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of family to establish a fund at a later date.

Robert was born in Rock Island, Illinois on February 28, 1943, a son of Roland and Inez Shippey Johnson.  He married Mary Reed on June 7, 1969.  She preceded him in death in September 20, 2000.  He married Shirley Johnston on May 12, 2006 in Rock Island.

Robert worked for J.I. Case, Rock Island, as a piece worker for 27 years.

Robert enjoyed fishing and camping.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed the quote, "Enter as a stranger, leave as a friend."

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Johnson, Clinton; children (and spouses), Kristina Johnson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Armon (Suzanna) Johnson, Paso Robles, Calif., Harry (Amanda) Johnson, Liberty, Mo., Shawn (Karen) Johnson, Goodfield, Ill., Judy (John) Fuller, Rock Island, Tammy (Marcos) Xara, Sarasota, Fla., Tobrena (Bill) Sheese, Milan, Ill., Damion (Katie) Johnson, Viola, Ill., Debra Ammeter, Clinton, Iowa, Allen (Barbera) Edfors, Clinton, Iowa and Pamela (Michael) Sampson, Davenport, Iowa; 36 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Pat) Johnson, Muscatine, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, son, Robert Johnson, daughter, Michelle Proud, parents, brothers, Roland Johnson Jr., Gary Johnson and Les Johnson and mother-in-law, Hazel Johnston
