Mr. Robert Lee Jones, Jr., 73, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Unity Point Health-Trinity, Rock Island.

A service celebrating the life of Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00am at the Second Baptist Church, 919-6th avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Wheelan- Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030-7th avenue, Rock Island. Mr. Jones will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Moline.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Jones was born on Saturday, January 17, 1942 in Humboldt, TN. to Robert Lee Jones, Sr. and Bertha Mae Gant Jones.

He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1960.

On November 16, 1963, he united in marriage with Dorothea Mae "Dot" Rummels in Rock Island. Dot passed away on October 15, 1990. On June 15, 1996, he married Dorothy Jean Jones in Rock Island.

Mr. Jones worked for John Deere in East Moline for 30 years retiring in 1992. He enjoyed working on race cars, boating and family gatherings which included his delicious barbecue. Mr. Jones especially enjoyed going on cruises with his family and friends.

His family and friends will truly miss his fun loving personality, his great sense of humor and most importantly his loving and very kind and generous heart.

Left with a lifetime of loving and cherished memories are his sons, Dion (Regina) Jones of Rock Island, Rodney (Susan) Jones of Mundelein, IL., Dale (Pam) Jones of Milan; six grandchildren; step-daughter, Otia Murray of Rock Island; seven step-grandchildren; sisters, Clara (Booker) Cole, Mattie Seward and Dorothy McElroy all of Rock Island and Nellie (Gerald) Thompson, East Moline. Brothers, Eddie (Ethelene) Jones and Allen Jones both of Rock Island, and Willie (Joyce) Jones of Milan. Mr. Jones will also be missed by a very large host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Jones was proceeded in death by his brothers, James L.and Bobbie Jones and his sister, Freddie Jones-Crawford.
